Many people develop elbow pain at one time or another in their lives. In order to understand the many causes of elbow pain and severe foot pain it is important to understand the symptoms. Symptoms of elbow injury can include severe elbow pain during activity, such as walking or getting up from a chair; elbow pain that prevents them from doing activities; or elbow pain at night that prevents them from sleeping. Elbow pain can often arise from symptoms that develop in everyday wear and tear, overuse, or injury. Elbow problems and elbow injuries most often occur during sports or recreational activities, work-related tasks, or home projects.
The elbow is the joint where three long bones meet in the middle portion of the arm. The bone of the upper arm (humerus) meets the inner bone of the forearm (ulna) and the outer bone of the forearm (radius) to form a hinge joint. The radius and ulna also meet in the elbow to allow for rotation of the forearm. See the illustration of the elbow on this page to explore more about elbow conditions.
